A New Peach Variety " Sachon Jungsaeng "



Abstract
A new peach variety $quot;Sachon Jungsaeng$quot; was developed by the clonal selection method from a bud mutant on the branch of $quot;Ohokubo$quot; variety of peach tree.
1. In 1961, a new mutant branch was found from a branch of $quot;Ohokubo$quot; variety of peach tree which was grafted in 1956.
2. In 1961, this mutant branch was grafted by bedding method on $quot;Ohokubo$quot; seedling stock, and this mutant teas developed as a new variety named $quot;Sachon Jungsaeng$quot; in 1972 after the evaluation and trial of some characteristics of the fruit and trees.
3. The fruit size is comparatively large (230-280g/fruit) for medium maturing variety and the skin colored deep red with attractive appearance.
4. Firm fruit flesh with long storage life and tolerance to transportation were remarkable features of this new peach variety.
